Paul Shanabarger

I joined the Navy while I was at South. The reason for my short hair cut then. I was a Hospital Corpsman while in the Navy. On leaving the Navy I got a job at the P&LE Railroad. I started collage at YSU and went for three years while working on the Railroad. On the Railroad I was a safety Inspector at Gateway Yard in Struthers, Ohio, Campbell, OH, Lansingville, OH, Haselton OH, and New Castle,PA. I retired from the CSX railroad in 2001 after 38 years on a Railroad Retirement. I am enjoying my retirement. I am now the President of The Men's Garden Club of Youngstown.

I have tried for years to forget the embarrassment of being in the worst marching band ever. I remember James Hill thinking he was the "Music Man".

I remember the worst Physics teacher ever. No one knew what the hell he was talking about and he didn't try to explain. Some kids got a passing grade for putting their name at the right place on the left hand side at the top of their tests. I once got the highest mark on a test with one right answer and my name on the left hand side at the top.

I remember "Wild Bill" breaking down the back door in our home room because it wouldn't open. It had been nailed shut years before.
